Course Overview and Materials
If you are intending to pursue a college diploma program or a technical trades (note that requirements for trades vary, so we recommend that you investigate prior to registering in this course) this is the course for you. In English 30-2, you will explore a variety of texts (visuals, poetry, modern drama, film, and novel). You will also receive lots of instruction and practice writing in a variety of contexts, especially in preparation for the required provincial diploma exam. You are required to use Proctorio remote supervision software for assessments in this class. You are not permitted to use Artificial Intelligence tools in any capacity in this course, including extensions such as Grammarly. There is a supervised midterm and final exam in this course as well as a diploma exam. Both the course mark and diploma exam mark are required for a final mark to appear on your transcript.
In order for a student to be successful in this course, VVS requires a minimum of 50% in English 20-2 or 40% in English 20-1.
You are responsible for providing your own copy of the required film. VVS does not stock films.
