As we start to write our nonfiction books on Egypt, we are going to be using all of our reading skills to learn about how other authors write. Today, we are going to look through some books to notice how authors create a table of contents. This will help you with your writing activity today. Please do this activity before you do writing today!

Writers will begin to take what they have been learning in reading and plan how they will write a book about Ancient Egypt.
Today, writers will make a list of topics that interest them within the topic of Ancient Egypt.
For example, some students were very interested in the Sphinx and the Valley of the Kings while others may be interested in learning more about Ancient Egyptian games and art.
Make a list of 4- 8 topics that interest you!

Today we will be learning about measurement and using non-standard forms. For example, we can use our hand, foot or arm to measure things in our world. You will watch this video: https://youtu.be/bWhWL1MET7A. Then you will trace the foot of each person in your home. If their feet are not free to use, trace a shoe for each person in your home. Compare those feet. Who has the biggest foot? Who has the smallest?
Today you will begin a new journey digging deeper into the world of plants.
Read text on Epic read, “Exploring Seeds” by Kristen Sterling. Read and find out what seeds you may have eaten, you may be surprised at the answer. When you finish, make a list of 3-5 facts you found interesting on this sheet:
