As you are writing, you’re probably thinking about the nonfiction books that you have read and all of the cool things that the authors do in their books. One thing that these authors do in particular is that they organize their chapters carefully. Today, we are going to read, thinking about how the authors of our books organize their writing. Watch how I do this!
Today, your job is to think about how all of the nonfiction books you’ve read are organized and when the time comes, use that knowledge in your own writing. For today, check out some nonfiction books on Epic or Raz Kids (they do not have to be about Egypt) and notice how their chapters are organized and how it helps you as a reader.
Today for writing you will continue drafting your third chapter. While you are drafting, please remember to draw pictures that have labels and captions.
Today you will continue to learn how to measure objects by selecting the correct tool.
An inch ruler - measures inches or things in feet
A yardstick - is equal to 3 rulers or 3 feet. We use this to measure larger objects such as a bulletin board or a car.
A measuring tape - is used by a seamstress or tailor to measure things that are round like your head or neck.
