This week we are going to start practicing our sight words!
When we get a new list of words, the first thing we do is to look through our words to make sure that we know what each word means. Today, you are going to look at the list of words below and make sure you know what each word means. Any word that you don't know, circle or write down and then ask someone (a friend, someone at home, your teacher) or look it up!

We have been reading all sorts of nonfiction books about Egypt and you are learning so much! As you read about different topics and write your own chapters, you’re going to start noticing how each chapter is about one topic. For example, you might have a chapter all about mummies and another all about pyramids.
When we read, we do the same thing -- we look for what the chapter is mostly about. Today, we are going to learn more about finding the main idea when we read a nonfiction text and to switch things up, we are going to use a nonfiction book that is not about Egypt! Watch me as I do this in my own book.
Now, it’s your turn. Try this this on IXL! Try S1 to practice. If you’d like more of a challenge, try S2.

Today for writing we will continue to draft! By now you should have finished two chapters. Today you will begin your third chapter. Just like last time you will use a topic sentence to start and include facts and details.
The goal for today is to make sure to be using important Egyptian vocabulary words while you keep on drafting. Please see the chart for SUGGESTED Egypt Vocabulary. Just use words that make sense to your chapters.
Today you will continue to use feet to measure by using estimation. Remember that estimation means you are taking an educated guess that is as close to the real measurement as you can get. Please remember that 12 inches make a foot.
