If you have access to a printer and glue, click the Addition Blossoms Spring Math Craft and follow the directions (on the right). If you do not have a printer and glue, follow along with Ms. Smith's video and the directions below.
Draw a large flowerpot on the bottom half of a piece of paper.
Pick a sum of 5 or 6 and write it on your flowerpot.
Draw two stems coming out of your flowerpot. Put a plus sign + on the middle of each stem.
Draw a middle to your flower.
Draw the number of petals for each flower to match your sum on the flowerpot (ex: if you chose 6 each flower should have 6 petals).
Color the petals around a flower using two different colors.
Color the other flower a different way using the same two colors.
Draw two large leaves on each stem next to the plus sign.
Look at the petals and write the addends for the addition sentence you created.
Color the rest of your picture. Don't cover the numbers you wrote!
