Now think about something that you’ve tried to build or create that didn’t work the first time you tried it. How did you feel? How did you learn to do it? Did you practice? Did you ask someone for help?
There is an old saying by Thomas Palmer, “If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.” Sometimes things don’t work out the way we plan them. Sometimes we have to walk away from something we’re working on and come back to it later like the little girl in the book The Most Magnificent Thing.
Complete Activity
What I Would Like You To Do:
In your notebook or on a piece of paper draw a picture of something you couldn't build or create the first time you tried.
For example, build a Lego car or draw a dragon
How did you eventually learn how to do it? Write a sentence telling me how at the bottom of your picture.
For example, “I took it apart and added new parts.” or “I looked at a picture of a dragon and saw what I was missing.”
When you are done please put your picture with your sentence in your school folder to turn in at a later date.
