Today you will be learning about antonyms. While synonyms are words that mean the same thing, antonyms are words that have opposite meanings. Watch this video to learn more about antonyms: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1G-4mf5YLQsP-rx7oCs3IepabLhrCzXUH/view?usp=sharing
Activity: After watching the video, make a list of word pairs (3-5 pairs) that you can think of that are antonyms! (Example: yell & whisper)
*Additional Resource: Read the book "Synonyms and Antonyms" on Epic.
Now that we are really digging deeper into reading our books on Ancient Egypt, you have probably come across new words that you might not know the meaning of. That’s okay! When you read about a new topic, you’re going to come to words that you are unfamiliar with.
Luckily, in most non-fiction books, there is a glossary. Watch the video below to learn about how to understand new words and their meanings using a glossary!
Now it's your turn! Try to find some new words in your books. Jot down the word and when you find out the meanings of those words, write that down, too!

Writers take out their list of their favorite books (this was done yesterday). Choose one book that you want to review.
Today, you will write your first book review using the Book Review Template. The Book Review Template can be found here:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1BrJAfObxp5tffEpcd99V4nnRCk4Q7jGC/view?usp=sharing
If you are not able to print it, please make something similar on any paper you have available.
First, write the title of your book. Remember, all titles begin with capital letters. For example: Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus by Mo Willems. Notice how all the words start with a capital letter. Also, notice how small words in the middle of the title like “the” don’t need a capital letter.
Then, give your book a score up to 10.
Next, draw a picture that represents your story. For example, if I was reviewing the book Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus I might draw the pigeon next to the bus.
After that, you will give a brief retell of the book without the ending. Use details from the book and if there are characters, include their names. Think of this like a movie trailer. In a movie trailer they would never spoil the ending.
You will write a few sentences telling what you liked or didn’t like about the book. Be specific! Use details from the book!
Finally, you will decide who to recommend this book to and why. For example: I recommend this book to all kindergarteners, first graders, and second graders because they will laugh at how ridiculous the pigeon is. They will enjoy the persuasive pigeon who just wants to drive a bus.

Today you will use your strategies to add 2-digit number on IXL G5 and G6.
Please write down the problems and practicing your regrouping skills. If you reach the score of 100% great! If not, do not spend more than 10 minutes on each IXL activity.

Now make a paper spinner that spins like the maple seed in the puppet show: Go to this website: https://www.exploratorium.edu/science_explorer/roto-copter.html . Print the Roto-Copter pattern. (If you can't print it, draw one just like the ones shown.) Follow the directions to put it together. Important: cut on the SOLID lines only, and fold on the DOTTED lines only. When it's done, drop it to make it spin.
