**Start by placing your cards in alphabetical order- make sure your rows look like the picture on the right.**

Using your letter cards: practice all the letters saying the letter, keyword(picture), sound

Vowel Extension chart: practice extending the short vowel sound

Using letter cards:

Dictating words- Watch the video with Ms. Domingues. Listen to Ms. Domingues dictate the word, then tap it and build it.
Optional: Write it and underline the digraph to mark it up.

Avid readers say to themselves "What is the character thinking?"

Read independently for 20 minutes.
Be an avid reader by asking yourself "What is the character thinking?"
Optional: Draw a thought bubble on paper and put it next to your characters.

Lesson 13: Closing hook
Grab the attention of the reader by telling them to go do something or try something.
Do this step ONLY if your child is ready. It's ok if they are not.

Start with 8 + 0 = 8

Then 7 + 1 = 8

Make a street sign for your street.
Optional: Take a picture walk of your neighborhood. Take photos or make quick sketches of what you see (buildings, street signs, vehicles, streets). Create a simple map of your pictures or make a slideshow of photos.
