While at the TCEA conference in February, I picked up some swag from some of our vendors. Feel free to stop by my desk in B100 and pick some up!
There are lots of stickers for you sticker lovers!
From a recent TCEA post: An analysis of 25 major research studies on generative AI in K-12 education (national surveys, state-level data, behavioral platform analytics, and qualitative research published between early 2023 and late 2025) has revealed some interesting trends. The article is short and is an easy read. I encourage you to take a look at it to see what gaps exist in using AI for learning and how your district might be able to fill those.
Check out these gems found through Andre Daughty's A Few of My Favorite Things session at TCEA last month!

Recently, Shannon Rosenfeld reached out for support on creating an AI activity where AP GT Gov students use AI to assist them in writing a new or modifying an existing bill for their upcoming Mock Congress. Her previous attempt with ChatGPT did not go as well as expected. We decided SchoolAI student spaces would be the best fit. The new space that she designed guides them through the bill writing process, prompts students for more information when needed, lets them know if existing legislation exists, and helps write a bill that incorporates their ideas. She's using the space with students the week following Spring Break!
World Geography (Hayden Blake, Kevin Hunt) recently reached out looking for a way for students to review their knowledge about religions. I helped create these drag-and-drop self-checking geniallys. If you'd like to try something similar, reach out!
Forbes recently shared a Pew Research Center study showing that U.S. teens overwhelmingly use AI Chatbots to help with homework. Forbes (tiered subscription model)
One way to better support your students, in class and at home, is to create your own custom AI chatbot through SchoolAI or Gemini Gems. You can "program" the chatbot on how to interact with students, what type of support to provide or not provide, what content to include, and more. It's not as hard to create as you may think!
Sharing with students
SchoolAI - Use the SchoolAI Canvas integration
Gemini Gems - Use Google Gemini in Canvas course navigation
Reach out for support! I would love to guide you through the process!
When students are sent to the library because their assessment won't open, they can't access the portal, a website won't load but it loads for everyone else, and a long list of other reasons, these troubleshooting steps usually work. Feel free to have students complete these steps before sending them down. It'll save the time it takes them to walk down and back.

If this doesn't work, feel free to send them down for additional support!
One-Click On-Demand Sessions: Teachers can now start a session instantly without selecting a schedule type, streamlining real-time classroom management.
Real-Time Countdown and Visual Warnings: A visible timer shows remaining time in the session, with color-coded alerts as class nears the end.
Extend or End Anytime: Teachers can click the timer to extend or end a session, with options to choose time increments or set a specific end time.
Auto-Start and Next Session Visibility: Teachers can see when their next scheduled session begins and choose whether to auto-start it. A direct link allows for quick editing of the schedule.
Note: If you see a scheduled time listed, delete the schedule.
Simplified Session Bar: Improved visibility into class settings, teaching team, and user roles with updated layout.
“Tab Limit Option” in Lightspeed was turned on March 8th @ 9:00pm
What does this mean? Teachers will have the right to limit how many tabs can be open within their class
Does the district have a limit? We are opening the Tab Limit option with a 100 tab max for students to see the roll-out through. Eventually we will put the district limit to 20 tabs - we are hoping this will help lag time where multiple tabs remain open
If you use the Tab Limit option, please instruct your students on using <Ctrl>+<Shift>+T to reopen recently closed tabs once you've turned off tab limits. They can hold <Ctrl>+<Shift> and press T repeatedly until the tabs they need are restored.
Note: Students work from tabs just like adults do. Keep this in mind when limiting their tabs.
Troubleshooting: If your or your students' tabs are limited when they shouldn't be, clear browsing data (Ctrl+H; select "Cookies and other site data" and "Cached images and files") for ALL TIME and reboot.
There are several ways to "lock down" Chromebooks and PCs/Macs during a testing environment.
