If you see the Do Not Disturb (circle with line) icon on your phone display, calls are being sent straight to your voicemail. To turn DND on/off, press the button that looks like a muted microphone.

SchoolAI: Thought Partner for Survey Design

Recently, Incubator/Accelerator students (Tommy Thompson) used a SchoolAI space as a thought partner for creating a survey for their business ideas. Students and teacher report that it worked beautifully to help guide students in creating better survey questions. Tommy Thompson also loved the immediate feedback on the teacher dashboard where he could see who was confused or lost so individual conversations could be had during class to get students back on track.

Hack: Use ChatGPT to design the prompt to use in the SchoolAI space. ChatGPT seems to be great at including exactly what's needed to make the student space what you're looking for. Then use the "start preview" pane in SchoolAI to test it out and see what additional adjustments need to be made.

Student 1forAll Canvas Course

High School students have through Tue, Sept. 30th to completely finish the 1forAll Canvas course that is accessed through their list of All Courses in Canvas. Students who have not finished the course should have received an email reminding them to complete it. Chromebooks for students who do not complete the course by Tue, Sept 30 will be disabled after PSAT on Oct. 1. Please remind your students to check their email regularly and that if they received an email notifying them they need to complete the course, they actually need to do it. Thank you for your support!

Canvas Clarity for Students

Just a friendly reminder of a few items related to the CHS Canvas template that will help our students...

Remove "first item", "second item". These are place holders.
Use "💥 AOL:" OR "💥 PC:", not both. If an AOL or PC is not given that day, the line should be removed.
The name of an AOL/PC needs to match in all places:
- Canvas lesson plan page
- Canvas assignment (if in Canvas)
- eSchool's TAC gradebook
Link to handouts, directions, notes pages, etc. on lesson plan page

Don't forget, to occasionally check Student View.

Old SpeedGrader Interface

Feel free to switch to the old SpeedGrader interface any time you would like! This makes it easier to do several things, including:

Hide inactive students
Easily see multiple files attached to a single submission
... and I'm sure much more!

In Speedgrader, please click on the cogwheel icon on the top left hand side and select options then select "Show old Speed Grader UI" then hit save. If it reverts back, change it again!

Student AI Usage in FISD poster is now linked at the top of the Tech Update and the CHS Locker for easy access. Feel free to screenshot or select/copy text from the poster to include in all of your assignments.

Aware Team Names

When using Teams in Aware, please make sure the team name includes CHS, subject, and year. This way if a team needs to be located for troubleshooting now or in the future, we can find it. It's hard to locate when there are dozens or more teams named the same thing (ex: Algebra 1).

Example Team Names:

CHS Algebra 1 25-26
CHS English 4 25-26
CHS World Geo 25-26

Next year, update the year in the name and the team members. Team tests will still be connected to the team.
