Take a moment and review the list of FISD Canvas Staff Roles. If another staff member (teacher, inclusion support, teacher from another campus, etc) has been added to your Canvas course(s), please make sure they have the rights they need.
Inclusion support should be either Teacher or Non-editing Teacher since they need to see if their students have submitted work.
If they do not have a need to view student submissions and grading in your course, they should NOT be a Teacher or Non-editing Teacher.
If they should not have editing rights in your course, they should be either Non-editing Teacher (includes grade access) or Non-editing Viewer (no grading).
Co-workers who need access to publish and send announcements on your behalf in case of an emergency should be Designers.
Selecting the right role for each person will ensure they have the access they need without violating FERPA.
Note: Admin and ICs have access to view all CHS Canvas courses and do not need to be added unless they have requested to be added.

Algebra 2 (Allen, Choate, Schmidt) are creating a spiral review test in Aware. Using Aware provides for many question types and allows data to be viewed by standard (Quick View: Student Learning Standard). Aware also has LockDown Browser capabilities.

A few students have reached out because they were being blocked from teachers they had last semester. To fix the issue, all teachers need to do the following:
Unmerge classes with S1 & S2 combined- If S1 and S2 classes were inadvertently merged together, from the dashboard unmerge these classes. Leaving them merged will cause problems for students who had a schedule change. Directions.
Hide S1 classes - Get those S1 classes out of the way! From the main dashboard, hide the S1 classes so only S2 classes remain. If a schedule was set, delete the schedule before hiding or it will continue to run and impact students who are no longer in your class. Directions.
Run AdHoc sessions, not schedules - When using Relay, if a schedule is used, it will automatically block your students during the scheduled time whether they're in your classroom or not. This is an issue with our A/B schedule. Instead, at the start of each class, start an AdHoc session to run the duration of when they will be on their Chromebooks. Directions.
To help clarify some possible misunderstandings. In Google, Shared FOLDERS and Shared DRIVES function similarly but differently.
PLCs should be using Google Shared DRIVES, not folders.
If your PLC team uses Shared FOLDERS, identify which team member "owns" most files. Transfer ownership of all folders and files to that individual. Once they "own" all folders and files in the Shared FOLDER, they can transfer all files into a Shared DRIVE and keep the file structure.
Add team members to the Share DRIVE with the appropriate permissions.

This feature gives educators a more intuitive way to engage students and promote reflection. It also helps educators more easily gather feedback, gauge understanding, and foster open reflection.
The new SchoolAI Chrome extension is like a combination of Brisk’s AI-powered feedback tools and the Revision History extension’s document history analysis. It uniquely brings both together by letting teachers deliver personalized, in-context feedback while also analyzing how student work evolves over time, all directly from any webpage or document without switching tools.
Personalized writing feedback: Generate targeted comments or summaries directly in students’ Google Docs based on rubrics or standards.
Revision History Viewer: Reveal every paste, edit, and contributing author to better understand how a student wrote their essay — useful for instructional decisions and academic integrity checks.
Instant content creation: Convert any webpage into teaching materials like worksheets, bell-ringers, or activities with a few clicks — no copy-paste.
Interactive AI support on any webpage: Chat with Dot, SchoolAI’s AI assistant, to get summaries, generate discussion questions, or answer queries without leaving the site.
Lesson inspiration as you browse: While reading articles or watching videos, instantly generate classroom resources (guided notes, quiz questions, etc.).
Differentiation tools in-context: Adapt web content on the fly for different reading levels or language needs (e.g., simplified text or translations) to support diverse learners.
Seamless workflow integration: Because the AI tools live in a side panel across all tabs, teachers can enhance teaching materials and feedback without switching apps.
Privacy & compliance built-in: Student data is protected with FERPA and COPPA compliance, designed specifically for education settings.
