We already set up MFA for Outlook. Now it's time to add Google to the list.
What: Education is a highly-targeted industry for cyber attacks. As part of our ongoing efforts to keep staff and student data secure, multi-factor authentication (MFA) will be pushed to all Frisco ISD staff Google accounts.
Why: MFA adds a layer of security by prompting the user for additional information when they (or someone else) attempts to access their account. You may have seen an increase in the use of MFA in your personal digital life, like online banking, over the past year.
How: Staff will receive an email from cybersecurity@friscoisd.org on your campus’ indicated date (CHS = Mon, Aug 19) with instructions for completing the setup process.

Note: I personally recommend that iPhone users install the Google Smart Lock app (iTunes). After setting up 2-step authentication, log into your FISD Google account in the app. Then when you need to authenticate, it'll pop up a notification asking if it's you. Click Yes and you're in! So easy!
Issues? If you receive an error message when adding your phone number, check a little later in the day to see if it showed up. Sometimes you'll see it through the Google Authenticator app or iPhone Google Smart Lock app. If it still does not show up, submit an Incident IQ ticket -- Software -- Microsoft Outlook (bottom of page) -- Multi-Factor Authentication.
Centennial HS staff must have 2-step authentication set up by Mon, Sept 2 or will be locked out of Google!

Starting YESTERDAY staff and student FISD Chromebooks and laptops will go to sleep after 10 minutes of inactivity or when lid is closed. This will require staff or students to re-enter their password to continue working in an effort to keep data private. There are talks about extending the time but for now it's 10 minutes.
Don't forget! If you use single week lesson plan pages, EVERY WEEKEND you need to:
Update the Current Week link on the Home page
Move the "Current Week" marker on the Modules list
Publish the new lesson plan page

Our students who transferred from another FISD campus (middle school and/or high school) need to change the School/Team they are working in inside of Canva.
If they forget to change it before starting a creation, they can select Copy to another team for the creation to move it to Centennial High School. Once it's copied over, the copy will be accessible through Canvas as a submission option.
The list of which students do or do not have an FISD Chromebook that was shared in last week's Cen10 Tech Update was added in the Extra Resources section of the CHS Locker. For confidentiality reasons, the file is only accessible by Centennial HS staff members. Notice the tabs across the bottom, which include the date that the information was last updated.
