Choose between single week and 3-week Lesson Plan pages.
Lesson plan page names include the Quarter (Q1, Q2, etc) and the dates.
These are set up by 3-week periods, separated by IRP/RC cut-offs.
You only need to plan one week out. You can leave the other future weeks empty and fill them in as time passes.
Lesson plan page names include the Quarter (Q1, Q2, etc) and the dates.
These include only a single week at at time.
Note: To switch from the 3-week lesson plan pages that were in the CHS Template in August to new single week lesson plan pages, see the "Canvas Lesson Plan page option" at the bottom of this page.
Unit Assessment Plan: The current Assessment Plan links at the top of each Lesson Plan page. Update as needed.
I can... statement:- Remove the "..." and add your "I can" statement(s) for each day.
In Class Today: Replace "First item" and "Second item" with descriptions, links, etc. of the daily activities and resources.
Assessment for Learner: Include how students will be assessed. If using a Canvas assignment or quiz, use "Course Links" to link to the assessment.
Practice and Preparation for Next Class: Include anything that students need to work on, think about, prepare, etc. for the next class.
As you switch from one Lesson Plan page to another, don't forget to update the "Current Week" link on the Home page.
The modules list includes:
Lesson plan pages - Past and current are published; future are unpublished
“Current Week” or "Current marking period" marker above the current lesson plan page. Move this marker as you switch to a new lesson plan page throughout the year.
Remove all other items as your lesson plan pages are updated throughout the year. If it's linked on the lesson plan page, it should not be on the Modules list.
Notes:
Additional items may be included on the Module list if it is required for functionality. Examples:
Mastery Paths
A module containing multiple versions of assessments (ex: OL, Modified, MasteryConnect, different versions, etc.). The lesson plan page can link to this Module and students will only see the assessments that are assigned to them.
Module completion tracking
Don’t add everything! When the list approaches 200 items (published and unpublished), it slows way down!
Ensure that only assignments that you want students to access are published.
Unpublish all other assignments!
Due dates are REQUIRED. Available from and Until dates are optional.
This information was in an email sent to All CHS Staff on Thu, Aug. 31st at 8:52 AM.
Mrs. Henderson has approved a new option for Canvas Lesson Plan pages for this school year. You can choose to continue using the 3-week Lesson Plan pages that were in the CHS Template at the start of the school year, OR you can opt to use a new set of single week Lesson Plan pages. As a reminder, if you use the 3-week Lesson Plan pages, you only need to plan out a week at a time and updated as you go. Do not use other breakdowns of lesson plan pages.
If you choose to continue using the Lesson Plan pages that are broken up by 3 week, continue as you have. If you need help bringing in the template, let me know!
If you would like to rename the “Current Week” marker to say “Current Marking Period”, you’re welcome to!
If you choose to switch to single week Lesson Plan pages starting Sept 5:
Locate the new “CHS Q1 Module – single weeks – 23-24” Module in Commons. Import it into your course.
On the Modules list, move the new “Quarter 1” module to the top of the list.
Then move the current “Q1: Aug 9 – Aug 31” lesson plan page into the new Quarter 1 module.
Delete or unpublish the old “Quarter 1” module.
Move the “Current Week” marker, if needed.
After moving any needed content to the new single-week lesson plans, delete (don’t “remove”) the current “Q1: Sept 5 – 22” and “Q1: Sept 25 – Oct 13” lesson plan pages.
Switch to Student View to make sure students will see what they should.
On the Home page, click on “Coursework”. If the link isn’t correct, edit the Home page to link that button to your new Quarter 1 module. <-- step not in video; please do this!
