You may have shopped Amazon by scanning a barcode but did you ever check out the other Amazon Lens options? In the Amazon app, not only can you scan a barcode but you can also search a live image or upload a photo. Want specific school/office supplies? Search a live image of your coworker's fancy pen! Like someone's shoes? Snag a picture then look them up! Thanks to Jennifer Breaux for pointing out this fun find! Happy holiday shopping!
If your classroom, office, or other location in the building has a tech issue (computer, sound, projector, etc), please submit an Eduphoria HelpDesk ticket! Even if you've submitted a ticket before, submit it again! Issues can't be fixed if we don't know about them and if the ticket was closed in the past, we may have a different solution now! If a ticket was previously submitted and closed but the issue persists, pretend we don't remember and notify us again.
Projectors: If the projector in your classroom is not an Epson, please submit a ticket to get it swapped out!
If you noticed in today's The Beat newsletter, we will be transitioning to Incident IQ in January. We'd like to get as many of the issues that currently exist resolved before the switch so the sooner they're entered, the better!
Read the article here. These are my initial thoughts on the platforms:
Polymath AI Lesson Generator has limited content. You can select grades 9 or 10 and English, Math, Science, Environmental Studies, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or Computer Science.
LessonPlans AI had limited access to free lesson plans. They charge $49/year for a paid account.
ChatGPT creates lesson plans but, as with all lesson plan generators, you'll need to evaluate the plans before using them.
Claude AI is similar to ChatGPT. In the TCEA article, they mention that when it created exit ticket ideas, they were tagged with the corresponding TEKS number.
Auto Classmate is super easy to use. I entered a grade, subject, topic, and that it tied to TEKS. The system found TEKS that it thought best fit and created ideas.
There is also a list of additional lesson plan generators at the bottom of the TCEA article.
As always, review the plans and make adjustments as needed. Please reach out if you'd like a partner to explore these or any others!

It's super easy for students to submit their Canva creations through Canvas! They can either use a method previously shared or can submit directly from Canva to an Online (File Upload OR Website URL) Assignment!
As long as students select "Centennial High School" from the drop down on the left inside Canva, all of their creations will show up in the "Canva for Education" section of an Online Assignment submission!
If you are sharing a template that all students will use, reach out for instructions. It's a different process to share a template.
Summary of Discussions Redesign
Discussion History View: 2023-11-07 When a user edits a submitted discussion reply, instructors can view the edit history of the posts. Additionally, students can view their own edit history.
Inline View and Split View for Discussion Threads: 2023-10-25 In discussions, a button displays that allows Instructors and students to switch between an inline viewing experience or a split view. The Inline view displays replies as threaded and users scroll downward, similar to the legacy discussions. The split view displays threaded replies in a tray.
Discussions Redesign will be defaulted on for everyone July 20, 2024. Teachers can Enable this option in Settings in their courses or Sandboxes now if they want.
Copied media files permissions are based on new copied media. Captions are independent of the media file and can be deleted or replaced independent of the media file.
In New Quizzes, instructors can enable Anonymous Grading.
🎉 Instructors can duplicate Item banks (New Quizzes). Duplicated Items banks can be edited without affecting the original content.
In the Items Bank page, bank details appear in a table view. Check it out, it’s much easier to use.
As a follow-up to the Titan Staff Updates Early Release for Athletes reminder, you can view who are absent a few different ways:
1) Attendance Bulletin (today or past 5 school days)
From the navigation across the top, select Attendance --> Bulletin.
Select an attendance date (you can select today or the past 5 school days)
Select which students to show and which attendance to view
Click the Refresh Bulletin button
2) Attendance List or Photos (today or past 5 school days)
When viewing the attendance list or photos (where you take attendance), if a small red o appears in the Office column, the office has entered attendance information for that student on that day.
Mouse-over the small red o for more information.
To view attendance for the past 5 school days, click Change at the top and select a date from the drop-down.
3) Gradebook Indicators (only for dates when assignments are due; past, today, or future)
If an assignment is due on the date you want to view, turn on the attendance indicator in your eSchool Gradebook. Directions.
Then cells with a red border indicate the student was/is/will be absent.
If students on FISD Chromebooks are showing offline and web rules are not working in Classroom Relay, Lightspeed confirmed this was a known issue on Chromebooks. They have pushed out an update to resolve the issue but stated that a restart may be needed to resolve the issue fully.
If students are using BYOD, please refer to Tue, Oct. 31st's Cen10 Tech Update Classroom Relay: How to Fix Missing Students section.
