ICYMI: Cell Connectivity Upgrade to Allow WiFi Calling!
From the Titan Staff Update:
Due to a recent change to FISD's firewall settings, our district network has now been configured to allow employee cell phones to utilize WiFi calling. If you have previously experienced limited or no cell connectivity on your campus, or varying degrees of connectivity within the campus, we believe cell devices may now be able to dial out without delay.
iPhone: Settings —> Cellular —> switch Wi-Fi Calling to On.
Android: Open the Phone app. Tap More (three dots), then Settings. Tap Calls. Tap Wi-Fi calling.

Jacie Moore recently imported the current AP Art History packet into NotebookLM and asked it to generate lots of things (chat, audio podcast, video, quiz, notes, flashcards). Shortly after creating it, the Google Gemini integration was added in Canvas (see more info below) so she was able to share the NotebookLM notebook with students directly through Canvas! They'll be accessing and using it this week!

NotebookLM now offers seamless integration for teachers (see below)
While notebooks cannot be shared via a share link, you can grant students access to use your created Notebook(s) through the new integration (see below)! Reach out for support!

They turned on the Gemini (and NotebookLM) integration inside Canvas on Friday!!!
Click Google Gemini in the course navigation.
Log in.
Click Add to course in the NotebookLM section
Select the Notebook you want to share
Notebooks added by the teacher can be used/interacted with by students but students cannot add content to what is already there.

If you do not want the Google Gemini integration available in your Canvas course, go to Settings --> Navigation --> locate and disable Google Gemini. While there, disable anything else that does not belong. Scroll down and click Save.
Canvas course navigation must include Announcements, Modules, Assignments, Grades, HAC, MackinVIA, Request to see Counselor, & CHS Library. Other items may be added if they are used by your students or are required for your access.
Quizzes does not need to be available for students if Assignments is visible to students since quizzes show on the assignments list.
LockDown Browser Troubleshooting on Chromebooks
LockDown Browser Troubleshooting on Chromebooks
These are troubleshooting steps intended for staff to walk students through the process. Please do not share this directly with students.
If students have trouble with the LockDown Browser on their Chromebook, please do the following:
Check Extension Version
Click extension piece (puzzle piece, top right)
Select “LockDown Browser” from list of extensions
Select “Reload” from the Pop Up
Update Chrome
Click in the bottom right time/date area
Select the settings cog
Scroll down and click About Chrome OS
Click Check for Updates
When it finishes processing, Restart
If that doesn’t fix it, then:
Powerwash the Chromebook
Restart
On the login screen, hold <Ctrl><Shift><Alt>+R
Click Powerwash
Continue
After it restarts, click Get started
Select the Frisco-ISD SSID and enter the password*
Once the Chromebook enrollment completes, click Done
Log back in and try the assessment again
If that doesn’t fix the issue, Restart.
If it’s still not fixed, send the student for support.
