Just a friendly reminder to leave your classroom/office PC ON overnight every night. Either sign out or lock it (Windows + L) when you leave every day. This ensures the computer receives required updates that are pushed out when we're sleeping. If prompted to restart, please do so sometime that day.
Every time you walk away from a computer that you're logged into, it needs to be either signed out of or locked.
Classroom PC: Lock (Windows + L) every time you leave your classroom.
Office PC: Lock (Windows + L) every time you walk away, even for a minute.
Chromebook: Automatically locks after inactivity or when closed.
Classroom Mac: Lock (Control + Command + Q) every time you leave your classroom.
Reach out with questions.

PII is Personally Identifiable Information. It may include:
Names
Birthdates
Email address
Or any other personally-identifiable information
Generally, it is not safe to upload personally identifiable information (PII) to free, unmanaged large language models (LLMs). Risks may include PII data being at-risk of data breaches or used to train LLMs and protections for your data may be very limited. The safest approach is to assume your data is not completely private when using a free, unmanaged LLM and avoid uploading any information you would not want to become public.
When uploading information to a paid-for or managed LLM there are stronger privacy and security guarantees. However, you should become familiar with each LLM’s specific data handling and privacy policies even for paid-for or managed accounts. Review the chart below before uploading PII to a LLM.

Recently, English 2 (Krieger, Beckman, Graham) didn't like changes to the way some feedback is generated in Class Companion. They explored SchoolAI student spaces instead, creating a space based on the FISD provided rubric where students would be prompted to paste in their writing, receive feedback through a conversation with the SchoolAI chatbot, then make changes to their writing before submitting. Advanced English 2 students report positive interactions and were appreciative of the targeted, relevant feedback provided.

A new role "Non-editing Viewer" has been added in Frisco ISD's Canvas. Please review the "Best for..." column on this graphic and adjust roles for FISD staff in your course(s) accordingly. Only staff members with grading needs in your course should have a Teacher or Non-editing Teacher role.
Students are able to use the Chromebook's select-to-speak when using the LockDown Browser provided they turn on the feature and turn off navigation controls before starting the assessment. Respondus's directions. FISD DLC created directions.
Chromebook's dictation is also an option in the LDB. Respondus's directions.

The Technology Department created a spreadsheet that you can use to export scores from Aware then it automatically converts them to a format that Grade Grabber likes so you can easily enter them into eSchool's TAC. There are 2 different tools on the same template now. One for pulling grades for a test and one for pulling grades by standard. Reach out for support!

Please help students submit an Incident IQ ticket if their Chromebook is not functioning fully. It's better to fix it now than to wait until the point of need for a feature that might not be working correctly. You can look over their shoulder and guide them through the process as they submit the ticket or you can open your classes through Incident IQ and submit a ticket for them.
Once a ticket is submitted, students need to keep an eye on their email for more information.
