It seems like every week I hear of more spam/phishing emails making their way around the district. If you receive an email and are unsure if it's legit or not, please ask me! I promise I won't judge! I'd rather you be skeptical and ask than not.
If you open a spam/phishing email:
If you entered your login information, change your password immediately.
If you open an attachment:
On the PC, run a Sophos anti-virus (Open Sophos Endpoint Agent and click "scan" OR enter an Incident IQ ticket).
On the Chromebook, move any files you need to keep from your local downloaded Files to Google Drive then enter an Incident IQ ticket to have your device power washed.
If you just read it then delete it, yay! You're good.
Recently, I stopped by World History's (Pearce, Maner, Summerlin) PLC when they were preparing for a coming assignment that they had previously used. Since the assignment included students receiving information from a variety of sources, I recommended they reach out to Dr. Turner to ensure the best resources were on the students' list, thus saving the team time. She was able to return it to them within a short timeframe with updated resources. They shared that Dr. Turner had been very helpful and have already reached out for another assignment! When stopping by your PLC meetings, I'm not just there to see how I can support you but also how any other supports that I'm aware of can help you, too!
If you have SPG sections in Canvas, those sections include students who receive modificated work and those who don't. Teachers can create and manage their own SpEd sections in Canvas to use when assigning work. Assign the regular assignment to the regular section and your teacher-created SpEd non-modified section then assign the modified assignment to the teacher-created SpEd modified section.

With support from our Area Tech (Rachael), District Tech (Matt) and our Network Dude who oversees Lightspeed, the Classroom Relay Troubleshooting document has been updated! A few of the steps were new to me. If students do not show up in Classroom Relay, feel free to share this troubleshooting document with them. These steps have been tested with actual students and proven to work! For any students whose BYOD does not show up in Classroom Relay, completing these steps made them ALL show up with the exception of iPads.
Per the 2024-2025 FISD Student Handbook (pages 95-96), in order to bring their own device from home:
Students must log in and use the Frisco ISD filtered wireless network during the school day on District assigned and/or personal electronic devices.
Students will refrain from attempting to bypass, hack, or circumvent security settings or Internet filters, or interfere with the operation of the network by installing software or web-based services.
Per the 1 for All student handbook:
Our Technology Department uses Google management for student Chromebook use and inventory control. Through this management, technology staff can monitor use, and manage application download controls.
All students must be on Frisco ISD wifi and logged into Google Chrome at school, regardless of device.
Reach out with questions and for support!
Canvas is accepting applications to participate in a beta group to give feedback on their new media player. I'd like to sign CHS up to be considered for the beta group. If you or your students use media recordings inside Canvas, please let me know your thoughts ASAP. I need to let our district person know in the next day or two.
Turnitin's AI detector has been turned back on at the request of the Teaching & Learning Coordinators. When reviewing the report, keep in mind the expectations shared by Mrs. Henderson in Sunday's Titan Staff Update.
