Just a friendly reminder that... Centennial HS staff must have 2-step authentication set up by Mon, Sept 2 or will be locked out of Google!
If you receive an error when adding your phone number, set up the Google Authenticator app and your phone number will show up. Crazy, I know. Not sure why it works like that but it does.

Adobe has an extra step to the Adobe log-in process that affects users trying to sign in to FISD Adobe (Express and Creative Cloud) products. After logging in with the FISD Account, select Frisco Independent School District not “Frisco ISD”.
As a reminder, all FISD staff and students have access to the Adobe Express features. Only certain staff members and teachers/students in certain classes have access to the full Creative Cloud suite.
Frisco ISD users no longer have 1TB in OneDrive due to Microsoft decreasing available storage for the district. As a result, all users now have 100GB of OneDrive storage.
Middle schoolers are able to send/receive email outside our domain
Middle schoolers are unable to share/receive files outside the district Google domain
High schoolers can now email/share/receive from outside the district addresses.
Please remind your students to be suspicious of emails they receive, even if it’s from another student or staff member!
English 2 is using Canvas Outcomes to track student learning on standards. Outcomes can be added to New Quizzes and Rubrics.
How do I align an outcome to a quiz question in New Quizzes?
How do I align an outcome with a rubric in a course using Rubric Enhancements?
How do I use the Learning Mastery Gradebook to view outcome results in a course?
Students: How do I view my Learning Mastery scores in the Grades page?
By default, Outcomes are set to 3 levels of proficiency. To better match district provided rubrics, I can change it to 4 levels in your course.

While I love supporting you with the best ways to use Canvas with your students, please also let me be your instruction and engagement support! My job is to support all teachers in creating a Future Ready classroom for your students whether technology is included in the lesson or not. When planning instruction or assessments, I'm here for you! I feel underutilized in this area which means you (and your team) may not be receiving support that you don't know you'd appreciate. Just let me know when and where to be!
Don't forget! There are double-monitor work stations set up for your use in both the North and South Workrooms! All teachers and staff are welcome to use them!
Yes, you can change Canvas course names! Go to the course Settings...
Name must include:
Name of the course (super long course names can be shortened a little)
S1 or S2
Teacher's last name (first name can be removed)
Course Code (currently the course code from eSchool) can be replaced with a shortened version of the course name and S1/S2. [Ex: APES S1, Eng 4 S1, Alg2 S1, US Hist S1] This is what you see in the breadcrumbs at the top of the page.
Don't forget to Update Course Details when finished.
As the first 3 weeks comes to an end this coming weekend, if you use 3-week single week lesson plan pages, don't forget to do these items this weekend:
Update the Current Week link on the Home page
Move the "Current Marking Period" marker on the Modules list
Publish the new lesson plan page
Single week lesson plan users do these 3 things every weekend!
The first 3 weeks is the only 3 week period that is NOT also a grade reporting period.

If you have SpEd students in the (S) section that do receive modified assessments and others that do not, you can create your own sections to use for those classes. You will need to manually add students to the sections and make changes as rosters change throughout the year. Then when assigning assignments, use the SpEd sections you created to assign the non-modified assignment to the students who need it and the modified assignment to the ones who need that.
Students only see assignments that are assigned to them (and their section).

There is a known issue with the new version of Turnitin's similarity report that it does not show the student name if work was plagiarized from another FISD student. To assist with this, you now have the option to use either the old or new similarity report. Look for the button above the Turnitin report on the right to switch between views.
Just a quick reminder that if a student's computer doesn't show up in Classroom Relay...

Include that the student is showing up on the dashboard but after troubleshooting (list the steps completed) that their activity still does not show up in Classroom Relay.
Also, you can look to see if the student has an FISD Chromebook at home and highly encourage them to bring it to school to use in your class.

At this time, Grammarly has not signed a DPA and is not available for student access. In the past, they were unable to get to the website but were able to use the Chrome extension. Access to the extension is also now blocked. As an alternative, students can use Google Docs spelling and grammar check.
Snorkl signed a DPA recently and has been added to the FISD Approved Apps list for use with students!
