Check out Canva's Speedpaint app! It's not perfect and you can't control the order that it "paints" but it could be a fun way to create a more engaging (RSA or Crash Course style) video presentation.
If the Speedpaint video file is inserted into a Canva Video project, the "Record yourself" option can be used to record a voiceover. It's a little weird because the Speedpaint video won't play while making your recording but, when finished, Canva plays the Speedpaint video and the voiceover recording at the same time.

AP Human Geography teachers have recently used Quizizz's AI (beta) question generator to create enrichment quizzes/games for students. Kenny Wooten says that it appears to do best with up to 10 questions and that you can tie standards to each question for data purposes! If you'd like to chat about it more, reach out to me or Kenny Wooten!
Use State Standards on Quizizz (AP standards & TEKS)
I'm often asked for examples of how AI is being used at CHS (professionally or with students). Please share your experiences here: AI uses at Centennial HS Form
Grade Grabber can grab grades from Google Sheets or Excel in addition to grabbing from Canvas! Frisco ISD pays for all staff to have access to Grade Grabber! Read more.
I've recently heard some frustrations about students not showing up in Classroom Relay. For students who do not show up, have them:
Use Chrome
Make sure their FISD Chrome account is syncing
Close all other browsers and programs
Reboot
NOT use a VPN
If a student still doesn't show up, open the class in Classroom Relay:
Click the 3 dots (right)
Add Student (bottom of list)
Send the link/code to students who need it
Approve their request. Directions.
Don't forget:
New as of last week: You can merge SpEd and On-Level sections!
You can rename your classes by clicking the settings icon within a class. Course codes ending in A are Sem 1, ending in B are Sem 2.
Do NOT set a schedule. This will keep their other teacher (1A/1B, 2A/2B, etc.) from viewing the students during their class. Use Ad Hoc to start and stop viewing your students during each class period.
And if you're interested, you can set a Web Rule to only allow certain sites or to block certain sites during your class. Directions.
Last week, Lightspeed added the ability for teachers to merge classes! This is so exciting! You can merge your SPG section with your on-level class for each period!
Mastery Connect Release 10/19/2023 Users can include archived student data when bulk exporting scores as CSV reports.
Unsubmit an assignment: Allow for students to unsubmit an assignment and make further edits.
Reuse an assignment: Save time lesson planning by reusing past assignments for other existing classes or new ones.
Rename projects: Just like in the Classic space, rename projects directly from the editor.
Upload/assign images to their classes: Customize the image card for each created class.
More export options: Connect sharing accounts (Google Drive, One Drive and YouTube [students cannot upload to YouTube]) to your WeVideo account, then export projects directly.
If you would like to set up WeVideo with your students, reach out and I'll send you the link to join Frisco ISD's paid WeVideo domain!
On Fri, Oct. 27th, Canva changed students' share settings. The “Public view-link” or “View only-link” options are now gone for students.
To turn in a link, they now need to:
Share
Change Collaboration Link to: Centennial HS can View
Click the purple “Copy link” button
Submit the link to an “Online: Website URL” assignment in Canvas
Alternatively, they can also:
Share
Download
Select the best option for their creation:
If includes links, PDF could work.
If it includes motion, MP4 or GIF could work.
For presentations, PPTX is probably best.
Submit to a “Online: File Upload” assignment in Canvas
This was originally emailed to CHS staff on Fri, Oct. 27th.
