Student Data Privacy - October 2023

Student Data Privacy

This is a reminder of Friday's Student Data Privacy presentation. As of Monday, October 23rd, Google will disable students access to websites that do not have a Data Privacy Agreement with Frisco ISD. For your and our students' protection, do NOT try to get around this! Review the presentation for details.

Reminder: Students can still use the un-checked websites as long as they do NOT sign into an account. They can use a code to join your game, use "fake logins" that are not tied to any student data, and you can use them on the projector for the class.

Note: If a website is un-checked for students, that means they are selling user's data. If you log into the site, they're likely selling your data too.

DAEP Sections

If you receive an email about setting up a DAEP section in Canvas, it MUST be done or your student will lose access to your Canvas course. See Penney Matos for help! With the new vaping law taking effect last month, we expect more students at DAEP this year than in the past.

New Quizzes: Build on Last Attempt. The Build on last attempt setting makes it possible for students to take additional attempts on a quiz, only re-attempting those questions they answered incorrectly. By eliminating the opportunity for a student to get an already correctly answered question incorrect on the reattempt, this feature will help to improve student outcomes and performance. Read more. Enhancing Collaboration: Re-introducing the New Canvas LMS Discussions Redesign
The original Google integration which includes Google Cloud Assignments will be going away on June 30, 2024. For next school year, we’ll only have Google Assignments LTI 1.3. This is a great time to start switching over, if you haven't already. Please reach out with questions!
