Sophos (our anti-virus) is now inspecting all downloaded files as they are being downloaded. If Sophos detects a low-reputation file, the user will get a prompt to Delete or Trust the file.
If the user trusts the file's source, they may select the option to trust the downloaded file. This feature gives the user a chance to double-check anything Sophos is not familiar with.
Sophos bases a file's reputation on its source, how often it is downloaded, and other factors.
Reminder: Any outside websites used by/with your students MUST be on the approved list found here: Websites and Digital Resources

So, following some disruptive phishing/spamming issues this summer, student accounts had limitations added. If your students must email or share Google files with people outside of Frisco ISD, at the current time, it must go through you, the teacher.
Email: Have the student draft the email in a Google Doc and share it with you. This can be done through a Google Assignments LTI 1.3 assignment if you don't want a gazillion shared documents. You will then copy and paste the information into an email to send. The outside person will need to reply to you with you acting as the middleman.
Google files: Have the outside person share the file with you. You make a copy of the file so you are the owner. Then you can share the file with the student(s) and the outside person.
I know this is a huge bummer. Our Network Dudes are working with vendors to find another solution but, in the meantime, this is where we are. When/if it changes, I'll let you know through the Cen10 Tech Updates.
Equatio became fully paid over the summer. If you're looking for Free Equatio Alternatives, check out this TCEA post.
If a student missed the first day of school and was unenrolled, then they re-enrolled today, their Canvas will update tonight. I think you can manually add them to your course by ID number if they need access today.
If you have Canvas courses on your current courses list (not Past Enrollments) that you would no longer like on your dashboard or list of All courses, there are a few options:
To keep access but remove it from your Dashboard, go to the list of All Courses and only star the ones you want on the Dashboard.
To remove ALL access:
If you're the only person on the people list for the course, go to Settings -- Delete this course.
If other people also have access to the course, on the Home page look for Drop this Course. If you cannot remove yourself, send me an email request with a link to the course.
Just FYI...
If you'd like to see which of your students do and do not have an FISD touchscreen Chromebook, check out the new CHS Student Chromebooks 2024-2025 (only CHS Staff can access) doc.
When using the LockDown Browser, if a student is listed as having an FISD Chromebook, please request they bring it to school for the assessment. This will get them in the habit of having their device for online testing and will cut down on issues with accessing the assessment from BYOD devices.
