Student Data Privacy: Accepted Apps List - Update!

Keep an eye on the Accepted Apps list. It's constantly being updated as new requests are made and new DPAs and Exhibit E documents are received. Check out the update to Desmos, Blooket, and Gimkit! See if any of your other favorites have changed status.

Missing Chromebooks

If you find any Chromebooks (or library books) lying around, please send them to the Library! We can look up who the Chromebook belongs to and get it back to them. Because we don't have extras to loan out, it makes it hard for students who misplace their Chromebooks to do their schoolwork. Thanks!

Restart Reminder

This is your reminder to reboot your PC at least once each week!

It's also a refresher of the Sept 12th update that we should no longer be turning off PC computers (classroom walls, office desktops, etc)! They need to remain on so they receive updates.

Collaboration Corner

Mackenzie Reeves and Tommy Thompson created a cross-curricular assignment between Business Law, ACCELerator, and Social Media Marketing classes. ACCELerator students and an individual from the community are presenting their companies to Business Law and Social Media Marketing students. Then Business Law and Social Media Marketing students will create relevant business law and social media proposals to present back to ACCELerator students and the individual from the community. Dr. Tammy Turner is talking with classes about reliable research and proper source citation. Penney Matos is talking with classes about presentation tips and product options (resources). If you would like to collaborate on a coming assignment, please reach out!

EdPuzzle replacement -- Nearpod videos!

If you used EdPuzzle and are looking for a replacement, check out Nearpod's video questions. You can make a stand-alone video activity or embed it as part of a Nearpod lesson with additional content or activities! See Penney Matos if you would like help setting up a Canvas assignment connected with Nearpod or for any additional questions about how to create or use Nearpod. Frisco ISD pays for your access to this interactive tool!

Viewing Q1 Assignments in the Canvas Gradebook

The Canvas gradebook is tied to the calendar. It is now showing Q2 assignments. If you would like to look back at Q1 assignments, use Apply Filters to select Grading Periods then either All Grading Periods or 1st MP.

Switching Marking Periods in eSchool's TAC

To switch between Q1 and Q2, use the drop-down on the home page or Change on gradebook score entry screens.

LockDown Browser (LDB)

If you are giving an assessment using the LockDown Browser, remind your students that if they have an FISD Touchscreen Chromebook that they need to bring it for your testing days. Lately, many of the students experiencing trouble with the LDB on BYOD devices say they have an FISD Chromebook at home. We cannot give them a second device. They must bring it! We cannot troubleshoot personal devices. If the LDB does not work (which often happens with Macs), their only option is to use their FISD Touchscreen Chromebook.

Quarter 2 Modules in Commons

If you're looking for Quarter 2 modules in Commons, these are both available for you to import. Search Commons for "CHS" and filter for Frisco ISD.

DAEP Sections

If you receive an email about setting up a DAEP section in Canvas, it MUST be done or your student will lose access to your Canvas course. Please do it as soon as possible. See Penney Matos for help or for students who are already Inactive in Canvas! With the new vaping law that took effect last month, we expect more students at DAEP this year than in the past.
