Resources from PD by the Pool are available! Happy learning!
Just a few reminders about the new Lesson Plan template. An example is seen to the left.
Items of note:
The "I can" statement is a restatement of the TEKS covered that day.
Remove "first item", "second item"
AOL or PC is only listed when an AOL or PC is given in class. Use AOL OR PC, not both.
The name of an AOL/PC on the lesson plan page needs to match the name of the assignment in Canvas (if in Canvas) and the name listed in eSchool's TAC (gradebook).
Link to handouts, directions, notes pages, etc.
If you copy/paste from a previous year's Canvas, (1) ensure the template verbiage is this year's terminology, and (2) double-check that the links work in Student View
On the Assessment Plans page in Canvas, the instructions in the page send you to the wrong location for templates. The Assessment Plan templates are housed in the CHS Locker. Please make sure you are using a current Assessment Plan template and that plans are embedded or copy/pasted into the Assessments Plan page in Canvas.

Because we serve in loco parentis (“in place of parents”), please be sure to use only the apps and websites on the Approved Apps list with students. If students must create an account or log in to use it, it must be on the list with a checkmark in the Student column. This helps keep everyone safe and ensures the tools we use are secure. Thanks for helping protect our students online!

Note: If the site is not approved for student login, you cannot recommend they use a personal account to access it either. It's not approved for a reason.
Want to know if the website you'd like students to visit is open for students on the filter or not? Check out the Lightspeed AccessScan Chrome extension! Enter one of your student's email addresses (from eSchool's TAC) and scan the page. It'll tell you if the page is allowed or not and more!
If you don't see the extension, log into your Chrome account and turn on syncing.
Note: If students do NOT log into an account to use a website, check to make sure it's available on the filter through this extension! To request a website be unblocked, submit an Incident IQ ticket for Network/WiFi --> Block/Unblock a Website --> Request to Unblock a Website.
Take a minute to clean up your Canvas course navigation (Settings -- Navigation -- disable/enable items -- Save [blue button at bottom]). Remove the new G-W Assessment and Gale in Context: World History LTI 1.3 (unless you use them).
If a closed eyeball displays next to Announcements or Assignments, you haven't published any yet so students do not see it.
Check your course with View as Student.
Your course navigation should look like the graphic on the left, minus the ones in the red box. If you unsure about a Navigation item you would like to add, reach out for support!
In Canvas Pages and Assignments, the Immersive Reader can be used by students to read content aloud! This can be done through a web browser on any type of computer (Chromebook, PC, Mac, laptop). Learn more.
On a Chromebook, students can also use Select-to-Speak (recommended for just about everything) or Chromevox (recommended for lockdown browser assessments) from the Chromebook Accessibility tools to read aloud just about any text on the screen! Learn more.
