This week, on level Geometry (King and Sharma) is using Notebook LM as part of their review. They uploaded class notes and videos then asked it to generate a mind map, quiz/review questions, and an infographic. The new infographic option is in beta and teachers were unable to get it to generate graphics that were 100% what they wanted so students will be prompted: "This was generated by AI and we know that AI makes mistakes. Help us locate the mistakes in what AI generated." This prompt gives students a purpose to "prove AI wrong" (which they love to do) as well as getting them to review the content.
Notebook LM is an AI-powered assistant that helps teachers turn class materials into clear summaries, study guides, and questions. Through its Canvas integration, students can directly interact with and use those generated resources for studying, projects, and deeper understanding.

This recommendation is adapted from a post shared through a TCEA discussion forum.
Use your favorite AI chatbot (CoPilot, ChatGPT for Teachers, SchoolAI dot assistant, Gemini, Claude, etc).
Start by prompting it to see how it was easy to cheat.
Copy/paste in your current assignment or ask the chatbot to generate one for you.
Then prompt: "Tell me: How easy was this for you to fake? Give it a 'Cheata-bility Score' from 1-10." "
If it provides a high score, prompt: “Okay, the score is high. Redesign this student assignment so that it measures critical thinking and oral defense rather than just writing ability. Suggest a rubric where the grade comes from the process (drafts, reflection, verbal explanation)."
Adjust as needed, of course.
Reference the verb from the TEKS being assessed!
Reminders: CHS ICs (Dr Tammy Turner & Courtney Smith) are amazing resources for redesigning assignments! Start with the verb from the TEKS you're assessing, then find ways to assess students' knowledge and ability in a way that they can't just "Google" or "AI".

2026 Sem 1 courses should have archived last week.
Your Canvas dashboard should have 2026 Sem 2 and/or 2026 Yearly courses for students.
To access past courses, go to your list of All Courses then scroll down to Past Enrollments. I recommend sorting by Term. You can access and copy from past courses but not edit them.
If you need help, please reach out to Penney Matos at MatosP@friscoisd.org!
If a student still needs to submit an assignment from Sem1 (Q2), locate that assignment in your S2 or Yearly course and assign it to just them. Publishing in a S2 course will only allow the student(s) it is assigned to view it.
