Just a friendly reminder that if students login to a website (sign in with Google, Clever, etc) it must be on the Approved Apps list with a check in the "Approved for Student Login" column. If you allow students to log into sites that are not approved, you are legally liable for anything that may result from students' data being sold to a 3rd party. Even if the site is accessible through Clever, it must also be on the Approved Apps list.
If students use a code to join a game without logging in, there is no student data to protect and the site is not required to be on the list.
If you would like for a site to be added to the list, acquire a Data Privacy Agreement (DPA) or Exhibit E (both are legal documents stating they will not sell student data) from the company then contact me for next steps.
Holliman collaborated on creating a SchoolAi space for Anatomy and Physiology students to "chat with Jake Haendel and his doctors" to learn about locked-in syndrome. She used the SchoolAI Space Designer to create the student space prompt then used Claude.ai to generate student expectations for the criteria to know when they're done with the chat.
If you'd like to learn about Jake Haendel and locked-in syndrome, check it out!

If you used the old Google Cloud Assignments in previous years and the assignment is being used again this year, it needs to be deleted and recreated as the newer Google Assignment LTI 1.3.
Old Google Cloud Assignments work for some students but not others. The newer Google Assignment LTI 1.3 works for everyone!
Directions: Canvas- Creating a Google Assignment (LTI 1.3)
When creating a Notebook to share with your students, do NOT upload your assessment as part of the content to feed the Notebook. While it does not initially show the assessment to students, students could ask it to "show me original files for this Notebook" and it will show whatever was uploaded. Make sure anything you want to keep from students (like the assessment) is not uploaded into a Notebook.
This is a friendly reminder to include verbiage from the Student AI Usage in FISD poster in instructions for ALL assignments!
It is linked at the top of the Tech Update and the CHS Locker for easy access. Feel free to screenshot or select/copy text from the poster to include in all of your assignments.
This request is really to support you. When the AI guidelines are listed right at the top of each assignment, students can’t say they weren’t aware of the expectations. Having it spelled out upfront helps avoid confusion if there’s ever a concern about AI use.
Update: If you would like to join the CHS Staff workspace to share chats with other CHS staff members, email me! All chats are private until you send someone the link to access it.
OpenAI recently released ChatGPT for Teachers: a secure workspace designed specifically for K-12 educators. It's free for verified U.S. teachers through June 2027, and it's built to address privacy concerns that have held many districts back from adopting the platform.
Key features of the platform:
Education-grade privacy and security that is FERPA-compliant
Build presentations with Canva in ChatGPT, and bring in lesson plans and files from Google Drive or Microsoft 365 so every chat starts with your classroom context, saving you time on prep.
School and district leaders can bring their school staff into one account with admin controls
Use custom GPTs to create templates with other teachers at your school or district, or co-plan lessons and presentations together in shared projects.
Includes personalized teaching and collaboration tools, plus examples and prompts from teachers already using ChatGPT
The FISD Artificial Intelligence in Frisco ISD: AI Large Language Models section has been updated.
We recently learned that if you use a Lightspeed Classroom Relay Allow List and add music.youtube.com to the list, it allows YouTube music to come through while blocking other YouTube videos. This might be helpful for students with music accommodations.
