This week is all about apples! For writing, we tasted apple bread, which we loved, and wrote the ingredients we thought were in the bread. We worked with unifex cubes to create patterns, and they were able to play with them too!
We continued to practice our Daily 5 Choices, and the kindergarteners are having a fun time with our new choice, Word Work. We also added books to our book bins from the classroom library. This was a very exciting time today! They were able to go through the library bins and choose books to read during Read to Self time.
We continued to work with our Daily 5 Choices, which they love doing! We had indoor recess and had fun playing with the classroom toys and friends. We finished decorating our fall acorns, and they are ready to hang in the hallway! To end the day, we started an apple core project.
In math, we created an apple tree by tracing our hands and using it for the trunk and branches. They had to put 10 apples on their tree using the colors red, green, and yellow. They continue to work hard during Daily 5 Choices! They love to use the chalk when playing on the blacktop! To end the day, we finished our apple core project by adding our stem and leaves. We also added labels to identify the different parts of an apple.
We ended the week working hard with our Daily 5 Choices. We taste tested red, yellow, and green apples and made a graph to show which was our favorite. The majority of the class liked red apples the best! To end the day, we talked about bullying with Mrs. Elliott and took a pledge to 'Be a Kid Against Bullying'.
