This week is Fire Safety week, so we will be doing fire-related activities all week! We completed a firefighter patterning sheet and also traced/cut several pieces for our firefighter craft later in the week. We learned about our fourth Daily 5 Choice: Read to Someone. They loved being able to share their books and read to each other! We enjoyed an indoor recess and got to play with toys. Our friend turned in his Positive Office Referral Ticket and was able to eat lunch at the black table with three of his friends. Way to go! We ended our day with a surprise! Olivia brought in pumpkins that she helped her grandparents grow for the whole class! Enjoy your pumpkins!
Today, we completed our firefighter craft, and they turned out great! We also learned about stop, drop, and roll. We read a story and completed a project to help remind us what to do if our clothes ever catch on fire.
October is National Bullying Prevention Month. This morning we met with the counselor, Ms. Wahlgren, and we took the pledge to take a stand against bullying. We completed a pledge paper and signed our names on a poster. A signed pledge also went home with your student. This afternoon we practice beginning sounds by labeling a fire truck. We also practiced counting by building fire towers with cubes.
Today, I introduced math choices to the class. Math choices are for when students finish an activity early. Right now, our math choices include number puzzles, number sequencing, and matching numbers to quantities. They loved being able to work with something new! In gym, they learned how to do jumping jacks and played a 'Pirate Ship' game. To end our day, we reviewed the equipment and gear a firefighter needs to stay safe and dressed, and colored, our very own firefighter.
