This week is all about turkeys, Thanksgiving, and thankfulness! We started off our Monday with an adorable Thanksgiving-themed snack. We had pudding cups dressed-up as turkeys, and a Thanksgiving 'Blessing Mix'. We practiced retelling 'The Night Before Thanksgiving' with our story pieces. They did a great job! To help us get ready for our Friendship Feast, we created turkeys headbands, and we wore them during the feast. To end our day, we had our Friendship Feast with our second grade buddies. They enjoyed fruit cocktail, cornbread muffins, and juice. It was a great time!
We completed many Thanksgiving-themed activities. In math, we practiced patterning by coloring the feathers of a turkey in a certain pattern. We read 'There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed a Pie' and sequenced everything she swallowed. They absolutely love the 'Old Lady' books! We discussed thankfulness and completed several activities about what we were thankful for. I gave each student a 'Thankful Turkey' and told them why I was thankful for them. They loved hearing what I had to say and of course loved the candy body! We also completed a math activity with M&M's and candy corn, where students had to listen to written directions. Today was filled with fun learning, and they did great!
