Evexia Cafe, Bakery, and Market is a local restaurant that offers healthier meals, including both vegan and gluten-free options. Evexia has a wide variety of coffee-based drinks as well as delicious bakery items.
Beginning in November, Evexia will offer a ‘Pass it Forward’ meal event. JJ Garber, the owner of Evexia Cafe, explains the event as well as what motivated her to run the program. This event is designed to provide nutritious meals to anyone in need. “Customers can purchase an entree, a kid’s meal, or a Thanksgiving sampler and put the donation receipt on our meal wall,” Garber shared.
Once a customer places their receipt on the meal wall, Garber explains how they would go about redeeming a meal: “Anyone who needs a meal can grab a receipt, bring it to the register, and choose what they would like.” A customer will be provided with their meal of choice, based on the options provided, with no questions asked or judgment. This event will possibly run through New Year's, but Garber plans to run it as long as there is a need in the community.
As for what motivated Garber and the Evexia management to run the event, she explains, “A couple of customers suggested the idea, and we thought there couldn’t be a better time than right now to try it out.” Already having received ten donated orders, Garber is extremely happy with the support from both customers and the community.
