Mission: The Women's Fund of the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation is dedicated to improving the lives of women and girls and all members of the Oshkosh area community through philanthropy, grant making and education.

Clientele: Women and girls is primary focus, but all in the community can benefit from the Women's Fund.

Services: Provide granting dollars to local organizations that support women and girls. Educate community on Women's Fund's lead initiatives (Status of Women in Northeast WI, Isolation, the State of Parenting, etc.). Our Board of Directors has a strong passion for supporting programs and organizations that directly work with middle school girls. Our girls granting initiative is a program that enables junior and senior high school girls to reflect on their own personal journey through middle school and what obstacles they faced. The girls then create a budget, interview local agencies and award a $10,000 grant to the program of their choice.

Internship Description (120 Hours): Oversee and running the Girls Granting Initiative. This initiative brings together 15-20 female high school students from three of the local high schools in town. This program works with teen age girls on the issues that they are currently facing in their lives. The girls walk through today's issues (suicide, bullying, self-appreciation) and then work with the Women's Fund and become the granting team that gives away $10,000 to a non-profit agency of their choice that will tackle the issue they uncovered. The goal of the program is to teach philanthropy and to learn about what our youth is facing and how we as a women's fund can be there to support our young girls in the community. This role requires someone who is comfortable working with girls in the 15-18 year age range. The intern must be comfortable in a lead role and be entrepreneurial in spirit. Also assist Women's Fund with the Power of the Purse luncheon in April/May 2020. May include helping with marketing materials, mailings, organization of RSVP list, etc. More info on the Power of Purse can be found on the Women's Fund website.

Advanced Internship Description (280 Hours): Not available for Advanced Internship students.
