Internship (120 hours):

There are a variety of options available to interns with Pillars depending on the site and leader they are working with. Intern could be placed at either of the shelters or along side one of our case managers in the various programs we operate. Duties will be dependent on the site they are connected with and the leader that is navigating their internship. The Adult Shelter provides Basic Needs to individuals experiencing homelessness. This location does not require sobriety and serves a high number of individuals who are experiencing chronic homelessness. The Adult and Family Shelter does have more robust eligibility requirements due to the family population that accesses these resources. Along with more robust eligibility are more robust services. Case Management, Peer Support, and Recovery Coaching is required to access the Adult and Family Shelter services. The Resource Shelter provides many services to those staying at the Adult Shelter or in a place not intended for human habitation. It houses our Outreach Team and provides a space where people can get connected to agency and community resources that are not connected via a specific program yet. The Housing Stabilization Team works with people transitioning from homelessness to housing. Through a variety of housing programs, the Housing Stabilization Team provides case management and life skills to empower individuals and families to avoid repeated occurrences of homelessness and create stability within their world. Interns placed at Pillars will be immersed in experiences via job shadowing and co-leadership opportunities.
