Mission: Career and Professional Development fosters student success through the acquisition of knowledge, practice of skills, reflection on experience and demonstration of career readiness.

Clientele: Internal: Current UW Oshkosh students, alumni within 1 year of graduation, staff and faculty.

External: local, state, regional and national employers

Services: Career and Professional Development assists undergraduate and graduate students develop professional skills, use Handshake, search for internships and jobs, on-campus interviewing, job fairs, and career events.

Internship Description (120 Hours): 120-hour placements may be taken in special cases. Contact Jaime Page-Stadler to discuss these opportunities.

Advanced Internship Description (280 Hours):

Opportunities for student assignments, activities and learning in Career and Professional Development include:

one-on-one training and professional development,

attend staff meetings,

participate in and assist with various workshops and programs,

create and maintain workshop materials,

develop communication skills,

research special topics,

develop and use interviewing skills,

participate in assessment and marketing strategies, and

obtain public relations skills.

Students should demonstrate strong communications skills and have the ability to maintain a high level of patience while working one-on-one with clients. Students should have the desire to uphold high standards of customer service and build their existing skills.

Leadership Experience- Possible Career Closet coordination, Assistance with Quest II classroom visit/presentation coordination (spring).
