Mission: Sheboygan County Interfaith Organization-SCIO is a spiritually based organization of faith communities in Sheboygan County. Our shared values bring us together to educate and advocate for social justice, dignity, and to improve the quality of life for all people. We bridge the gap between community needs and partner resources.

Clientele: Bridgeway & Beyond Transitional Living Program is for women with children who are homeless or living in unsafe or unstable situations.

Services: Bridgeway & Beyond TLP is a 13 bed residential transitional living program. We have a strong case management program and residents attend programming on health, communication, parenting, financial literacy and personal development.

We also have a Supervised Visitation Program and coordinate the Sheboygan and Plymouth Summer Farmers Markets and well as the Sheboygan Winter Farmers Market.

Internship Duties and Responsibilities (120 hours):

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the day-to-day operations of Bridgeway TLP

  • Assist with facilitation of programming on specific topics including self-esteem, health and wellness, communication, parenting, children’s development, life skills, and financial literacy

  • Assist staff with families who have experience trauma, poverty, homeless and similar issues

  • Interns will be trained in trauma informed care, strength based approach, and love and logic parenting

  • Interns will plan, develop and complete one project based on their specific area of expertise or interest

Requirements EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Applicants must be able to commit to a minimum of 10 hours per week evenings 4pm-10pm and or weekends 9am-10pm

  • The ideal candidate for this position will have an understanding of trauma, a self-starter, willing to work as a team, and a quick learner

  • Strong computer and interpersonal skills are a must

  • Jr status/Associates degree or prerequisites of abnormal psychology, counseling methods and ethics or similar

  • Background check is required

Advanced Internship duties and responsibilities (280 hours):

Responsibilities:

  • Take lead on planning and facilitation of programming on specific topics including self-esteem, health and wellness, communication, parenting, children’s development, life skills, and financial literacy

  • Assist staff with families who have experienced trauma, poverty, homeless and similar issues

  • Have experience and be trained in trauma-informed care, strength based approach, and love and logic parenting

  • Interns will plan, develop and complete two projects based on their specific area of expertise or interest

Leadership Experience -Advanced Internship:

Leadership opportunities:

    • Taking lead on planning and facilitating groups pertaining to a topic beneficial to the women that we serve.

    • Plan and facilitate children's programming

    • Ability to be a part of our staff meetings and help brainstorm ways to better serve our families

Availability: Fall, spring, summer, evenings, weekends
