Mission: The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors.

Clientele: Clients receiving disaster assistance must have experienced a verified disaster. There are no eligibility requirements for those attending community preparedness activities.

Services: Disaster relief and preparedness, International Services, Health and Safety training, Service to the Armed Forces, Blood Collection

Internship Duties (120 hours): Complete disaster training courses including: Disaster Services; An Overview, Client Casework, Disaster Action Team Fundamentals and Client Assistance System (CAS 2.0) trainings. Assist with the Client Casework process and client satisfaction surveying after a response is closed. Help to maintain County Annexes including partnership lists and community resources. Would be given the opportunity to respond to disaster scene with other trained volunteers to provide support and assistance where needed. Office front desk assistance would also be necessary at times.

Advanced Internship Duties (280 Hours): Complete disaster training courses including, Disaster Services: An Overview, Client Casework, Disaster Action Team Fundamentals, Shelter Fundamentals and Client Assistance System (CAS 2.0) trainings. Assist with the Client Casework process and client satisfaction surveying after a response is closed. Help to maintain County Annexes including partnership lists and community resources. Help in updating shelter agreements and contact information with shelter sites throughout the area and maintaining that information in appropriate databases. Would be given opportunity to respond to disaster scene with other trained volunteers to provide support for meetings, etc. Work with the Individual and Community Preparedness Support Specialist to develop community disaster education outreach, schedule and conduct community presentations, including working with the Pillow Case Program. Office front desk assistance would also be necessary at time.
