Mission: Winnebago County Literacy Council creates opportunities for people to read, write, and speak English, and perform everyday skills with confidence.
Clientele: Low-literacy individuals in the community. Includes: refugees, citizens, immigrants, cognitively challenged and those with learning disabilities ranging from all socio-economic status, but predominately low-income.
Services: One-to-one tutoring, English Language Learning (ELL) classes, Road to Work for Refugees & Immigrants, Homework Help
Internship Description (120 Hours):
Take part in volunteer recruitment efforts
Match volunteer tutors and learners for tutoring
Welcome new learners and complete intakes
Form and lead individual or group tutoring sessions
Maintain records of any correspondences
Assist learners in literary classes
Assess learners as needed
Participate in trainings
Initiate projects with coordinators
Other leadership opportunities as needed
Advanced Internship Description (280 Hours):
