Mission: As UW-Extension, we teach, learn, and serve, connecting people with the University of Wisconsin and engaging them in transforming lives and communities. AND the mission of Outagamie County Cooperative Extension is to facilitate people’s use of university knowledge to make informed decisions that enrich their lives and enhance their communities.

Clientele: Interns would work primarily with youth ranging from Kindergarten through young adult.

UW-Madison, Division of Extension Positive Youth Development programs work with all audiences in accordance with non-discrimination laws.

Services: The UW-Madison Division of Extension Positive Youth Development (PYD) is just one of many areas of focus. UW-Madison Division of Extension reaches in areas of Agriculture &Natural Resources, Community Development, Families & Finances, Health & Well-being, and Youth.

Here in Outagamie County our PYD program offers community programs to youth in grades K5 through age 24 in a variety of outreach models which promote the development of life skills in all young people. These programs are conducted in partnership with a variety of local agencies and organizations including, but not limited to, schools, libraries, non-profits, mentor agencies, and more.

Internship Description (120 Hours): You may work with educator to deliver outreach programs including after school, school enrichment, and day camp programming. Curriculum and training is provided. This opportunity is ideal for anyone seeking experience working with youth in an outreach setting and is also a great way to gain experience working with youth of all ages and backgrounds.

Some evening and weekend hours may be available depending on current programming.

Advanced Internship Description (280 Hours): You would be responsible for coordinating and delivering already developed curriculum to youth programs in Outagamie County. You may collaborate with other staff (including other interns) to deliver youth programs when available. Curriculum is Life/Soft Skill based (communication and financial focused) and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) based. Training is provided. You will have the opportunity to create additional curriculum if this is something you are interested in. Monday-Friday with some Saturday hours possible. Summer interns should be available during these times. This opportunity is ideal for anyone seeking experience working with youth of all ages, or with families in low-income households, and is a great way to network.

Leadership Experience: You would be given responsibilities like a regular employee including starting new programs, creating new partnerships, and problem-solving community needs.
