Mission: ADVOCAP is a community action agency whose mission is to create opportunities for people and communities to reduce poverty and increase self sufficiency.

Clientele: People and organizations in the community that need the support and talents of volunteers.

Services: Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) RSVP is designed to partner with local non-profit agencies to develop a variety of rewarding volunteer opportunities that meet the needs of our communities, encourage volunteerism among those over age 55, and support the missions and activities of the partner agencies. With RSVP, volunteers decide where and how often they would like to serve.

Foster Grandparent Program (FGP) Foster Grandparents are volunteers with limited income age 55 or older, who provide supportive services to children with special physical, mental or emotional needs.

Senior Friends Senior Friend volunteers provide friendship and support to older persons living independently in our community. A Senior Friend participates in person-to-person visits with an older adult who needs companionship to fight off loneliness and isolation. Volunteers are asked to attend an orientation and training session and then serve 4 hours per month. Volunteers are also encouraged to participate in monthly inservice meetings where opportunities for learning, reflection and support are provided.

Winnebago County Transportation Program Transportation volunteers provide transportation to individuals who participate in Winnebago County Programs,. Volunteers use their personal vehicle to transport and are provided with mileage reimbursement. Volunteers choose when and how often they serve.

Fall Clean up Fall Clean Up is a program designed to assist elderly homeowners with basic yard chores such as raking leaves, cleaning out gardens, and washing windows. This is a seasonal volunteer opportunity

Internship Description (120 Hours): Create and distribute promotional materials. Update volunteer databases and files. Collect measurement data. Assist with volunteer recognition banquet. Attend collaboration and board meetings as needed.

This is a list of possible duties that may be assigned. Individual experiences can be tailored to the needs, skills and career goals of the student.

Advanced Internship Description (280 Hours): Coordinate fall or spring clean-up efforts. Assist with volunteer recognition banquet. Assist in the production of promotional materials. Attend collaboration and board meetings as needed. Assist with program development and scheduling in-service meetings for volunteers. Assist with all community events we participate in.
