Mission: University of Wisconsin-Fox Valley is one of 13 colleges making up UW Colleges. On each campus, the Office of Continuing Education (OCE) serves the area residents of the home campus. In the case of UWFox, OCE, our primary audience is the residents of Winnebago, Outagamie and Calumet counties.

UWFox, Office of Continuing Education helps individuals reach their goals by providing:

• Non-credit personal enrichment courses

• Online classes

• Credit courses offered to community businesses and high schools

• Educational travel (both credit and non-credit)

• Customized Professional Development

Services: Coordinates a youth program in the summer and an adult enrichment program all year.

Internship 120 Hours Description: The intern will be integrated into the Office of Continuing Education staff. In most cases, the intern will have their own assigned workspace and computer during the 120 hour internship. The OCE consists of two staff members, the Director and Programming and Marketing Specialist. Therefore, the ideal intern will be expected to complete tasks with minimal supervision. During the 120 hours, the intern will be involved in a wide variety of experiences. Based on the upcoming programs, the intern could be asked to assist with any of the following:

• Developing marketing pieces

• Organizing and/or coordinating program logistics

• Gathering data on specific topic/s

• Maintaining and/or updating website, social media, mailing lists, data bases, etc.

• Additional programmatic tasks necessary for the Office of Continuing Education to function effectively

Typically, the intern would not be responsible for tasks such as filing, making copies, opening mail, etc. However, if a project requiring these skills is necessary, the intern will be asked to assist the team to complete the project.

It is desirable for the individual to have experience with community education and/or project management and proficient in various Microsoft software applications, especially Word and Excel. He/she will be highly motivated, energetic, outgoing, and able to work independently. The intern will spend most of his/her work time on the UWFox campus in Menasha. However, some time may be spent traveling to program locations within the Fox Cities. It is suggested, that the intern will need to be available at least two days per week, Monday-Friday. Except in rare cases, there will be no evening or weekend requirements.

Advanced Internship 280 Hours Description: In addition to the skills and attributes listed above, the ideal candidate for the 280 hour internship should have experience in community programming and/or project management. During this internship, the individual will design/develop a project that would benefit the Office of Continuing Education. This project could include, but not limited to, any of the following:

• Seminar, event, or conference

• Process or procedure analysis and modification

• Analysis and/or Modification of existing program or event

• Other project mutually decided upon by intern and Office of Continuing

Education Director

To accomplish this, the intern would be responsible for the project from start to finish. Prior to starting the project, the intern will discuss the proposed project.
