Mission: The Crossing of Manitowoc County provides Christ-centered pregnancy support services to families in crisis. The Crossing is dedicated to reaching out to people who are our could be affected by an unexpected pregnancy with spiritual, physical, and material needs. We strongly desire to educate, empower, and equip students and families in Manitowoc County with skills necessary to develop healthy relationships believing these skills will build strong marriages and create safe and stable families.
Clientele: Women and children
Services: We see the need for single mothers in Manitowoc County to receive restorative living. We all know that everyone has a physical family, but many times those relationships are extremely dysfunctional. We want to offer help to heal those women who have had an unexpected pregnancy and need assistance to restore their lives through, coaching from professional women, support from families who care, community referrals for services needed, housing providing the family with a safe and stable environment, and relations with others in a similar place in their life journey. Bottom line is we are helping to break the cycle of poverty by giving help and hope for the rest of their life.
Internship Description (120 Hours): N/A
Advanced Internship Description (280 Hours): Accountability and advocacy: in addition to the Program Director and House Parent, meet with residents to assess needs, set short and long term goals as well as plans to attain those goals; attend meetings to reassess where the resident is at in the process, what current needs are and address obstacles to goal attainment; Mentors serve as a supportive capacity to help the resident establish healthy living and relationship habits, in addition to holding the resident accountable to their goals and program follow through; Additional leadership responsibilities as program develops
