This story follows Cassie Sullivan who is forced out of her normal teenager life into a world devastated by alien invasions. The waves have completely decimated the Earth’s population and the remaining survivors slowly learned to only trust themselves. When Cassie is separated from her little brother, who is unknowingly captured by the aliens, she is determined to save him. She hesitantly works with another mysterious survivor, Evan Walker. Cassie must choose between life or death in order to save her brother

The book definitely captures my attention. Cassie and her brother’s interactions completely stole my heart. There are multiple points of view of each character that can be overwhelming, but everything comes together to an exciting conclusion. The 5th Wave is a page-turner and has plenty to offer a reader who enjoys science fiction.
