This novel follows the story of Grace, an only child adopted at birth, who is reunited with her two siblings. Maya, her younger sister, grew up in a small household who is unsure of where she belongs. Joaquin, their older brother, has no interest in finding out the truth of their biological mother. He’s learned to keep his feelings to himself so then no one can hurt him. The three siblings embark on a journey and learn the meaning of family.
I was surprised by how amazing this storytelling was. Each of the three siblings has their own secrets, which poses challenges in their lives. They slowly bring down their walls separating them from the outside world and try to help each other. It was a realistic and well-written story about the anxieties adopted children and children in the foster care system go through. I would recommend it to absolutely everyone.
