Amy Gumm is unable to avoid the tornado as she takes shelter in her trailer park with her pet rat. Suddenly, she is swept away to Oz, but things aren’t what they seem in the original fairytale film. Dorothy has gained an obsessive addiction for magic, and is draining the land dry of it. The witches have founded a secret society in order to plan Dorothy’s murder, and Amy becomes an unexpected weapon.

I thought this novel was very captivating, creating a completely different reality to one of my favorite childhood movies, The Wizard of Oz. It was full of action, plot twists and more. The tone was creepy and mysterious throughout the novel. If you enjoy a dark twist to an original movie, then this is the book for you to read!
