The book I am reviewing is All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr. The story takes place in Europe during World War II, following two different storylines. One follows a young blind French girl named Marie, who flees her home in Paris with her father due to the Nazi Occupation. The other follows a young German boy named Werner, who is recruited to train as a Nazi officer. While at the camp, Werner discovers a talent for assembling radios, and in building one he forms a radio connection with Marie. From then on, they are able to converse with one another and their stories begin to intertwine.
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys historical fiction, as the book brings the WWII era to life extremely well through the lives of these characters. This book is also filled with descriptive and poetic prose, making it easy to become hooked by the story.
