Renegades by bestselling author Marissa Meyer is a great read for fantasy or science fiction lovers. When the main character, Nova, was younger, a man broke into her home, killing her mother, father, and little sister. The Renegades, a system of superheroes who fill the heads of children with the false promise that they will always help them when they are in trouble, and never come. Filled to the brim with vengeance, Nova, a prodigy with the power of putting people to sleep, takes on the name Nightmare to help her uncle form an uprising of villains. When Nova takes the guise of a Renegade named Insomnia to spy on them, she keeps her allies close, and her enemies closer.

I personally enjoyed this book because of the superhero aspect of it. I believe Meyer’s work is amazing. The characters have so many unique abilities that make the story so interesting to read. Fans of novels like Caraval, Serpent and Dove, and A Curse so Dark and Lovely will adore this novel.
