The Two Towers by J.R.R Tolkien is the second novel in the Lord of The Rings series, so make sure you have read the first before this. The Two Towers leaves off with where the Fellowship ended, the Hobbits finding Gollum, the one who had the ring in his possession for hundreds of years. Frodo takes pity on him, and allows him to live in exchange for guidance on the journey to Mount Doom, yet there are traps hiding! While this is happening, Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli are in pursuit of their lost friends are try to rescue them. A series of intense events follow, which ultimately culminates in large battles for Helms Deep and Isengard, two major forts in Middle Earth.

This second book is even more intense than the first, having several major and surprising plot twists that will keep readers on the edge of their seats. This book is a great sequel, filled with both large scale, magnificent moments and small scale personal ones, which really makes this book a great work based on how Tolkien balances the two. I definitely recommend it to any reader who enjoys fantasy.
