Ten Years Later by Alexandre Dumas is the third and last book of the The d'Artagnan Romances, so make sure you read the preceding two books before this one, since there will be spoilers. It is divided into three parts, each part consisting of adventures with d'Artagnan, the main character over the past two books. The first part is about how d'Artagnan and Athos, another musketeer, try and help Charles II of England retake the throne after being dethroned. Whether they succeed is up to the reader to find out, but following this d'Artagnan becomes a part of the French Musketeers once more and goes on an adventure. The second and third part go into more adventures, with elaborate political schemes and court politics that d'Artagnan and others have to go through.
Though this was a great book, I did not like it as much as the previous two. Since it had so many parts, I think it dragged on too long without any major plot development. Additionally, large sections were dedicated to romance and other affairs that I did not find as exciting as in the previous two books, therefore I give it 4 stars. However, I still highly recommend it as it is still very exciting in many parts and is an overall great read, but it is slightly boring compared to the other books.
