The novel Malorie by Josh Malerman is a riveting sequel to the book and movie Bird Box. Malorie and her two children are living in a world where they still can’t look. It’s been almost a decade of living by the ‘fold’ and as her kids get older they become more curious. Their whole lives they have been told not to look. Not to speak. Not to wonder. As things become more tense and new information is revealed, perspectives begin to change. Malorie never thought she would have hope or happiness ever again. But, when unexpected news comes knocking at her door, she can’t help but feel something.
On a leap of faith, Malorie and her children, Tom and Olympia, make the decision to leave their shelter of safety they’ve had for the past decade and try. Something Malorie wouldn’t even let herself think about but now she knows she must try. As the novel unravels we see the crazy journey this family has embarked on. Tom and Olympia reveal things no one could have seen coming. This novel was truly hard to put down and a real adventure. I would certainly recommend this book to anyone who watched or read Bird Box. Even if you didn’t, this novel is still so exciting for anyone who likes a good thriller!
