“Backlash” by Sarah Darer Littman is a realistic fiction story told through the perspective of two sets of siblings, Lara and Sydney and Bree and Liam. Lara and Bree used to be best friends. However, when an online crush pushes Lara to her breaking point, Bree and the whole school become entangled in the story.
I really enjoyed this book. I thought that the characters were interesting and I loved the fact that the story was told in 4 perspectives. I loved this choice because the reader is able to understand Bree, the bully’s, point of view, and Lara, the victim’s, point of view when all the events of the book took place. I also loved the theme of the story and I think it’s an important lesson for everyone to learn, to be kind to people because you never know what they’re struggling with. I also believe that this book could be helpful to anyone who is going through a similar situation. Overall, I thought this was a good read with an important message.
