A Winter’s promise is about what the world is like after what is called the rupture where all of Earth was split into different arks. Ophelia is a girl who lives on the ark Anima where she can travel through mirrors and has the power to see the history of objects when she touches them. She uses these powers to work in her uncle's museum where she hopes to be able to stay instead of having to marry a man like everyone else. But after refusing many arranged marriages Ophelia is forced to marry a mysterious and cold man from the ark known as the pole. There is no way out of it because the doyenne one of the leaders of Anima threatened that she would exile Ophelia if the marriage fails.

Overall I loved the book! In the beginning the plot was a bit sluggish but as I kept reading it got better and better! The author wrote the characters beautifully, I was just as nervous, betrayed, excited, shocked, etc. as Ophelia at every new turn. It was one of my favorite books I’ve read so far!
