The Perfect Candidate is a story about a young man who has a talent for politics and for investigating. The story is about Cameron Carter, hailing from a tiny town in South California, which he desperately wants to escape. To leave his hometown and the lack of opportunities it gives him, he signs up for an internship with Congressman Billy Beck, who represents his area. As he gets used to life in Washington DC, working side by side with some of the most influential people in the country, he learns the ins and outs of working with politicians. When an intern dies, he begins to suspect something is wrong, and before he knows it Cameron is launched into an FBI investigation into Billy Beck's past.

The book is fast paced and always interesting, the characters are likable and funny, and the ending is surprising. I liked this book a lot.
